About Me

My photo
Hello everyone! My name is Lo, Chuan-Hsin. You can call me my English name, Coco, too. I major in Management Information System now. Also, I’d like to attend various courses in NCCU, such as courses about law or accounting. I think that learning different things in college can be a good way to broaden my horizons. However, as a college student, undoubtedly I love to go out with friends, having fun trying new things. (In fact, I used to live in Taipei many years ago. Then my family moved to Hualien when I was at the age of 10.) As a result, I wish that I can travel around to get to know more about Taipei in the near future. In this blog, I decide to share with all of you my explorations here and my reflections on them, including useful information I receive in courses as well as my interesting experiences. Above all, hope you enjoy my blog! Thank you.

Above all

This semester was going to come to an end soon, and I noticed that this post would be the last one for us in our blogs.  That was so quick, wasn’t it?  To tell the truth, I usually took it as a must-to-do task for this English class, so I might felt it stressful from time to time.  I didn't feel like paying attention to the number of words when working on it, either.  But whenever I browsed through others’ blogs, I could always find something really close to me or useful for me.  To share various kinds of things with others, even people you were not that familiar with, is significantly wonderful to both sides!  Additionally, when I returned to my own posts or replies, I amazingly found myself filled with a strong sense of accomplishment!  Not only did I try my best to finish these essays, but also did I think and reflect on my college life seriously.  Last but not the least, glad to have this interesting but practical learning chance!

Getting Busy

It seems that we are getting busier recently.
This week, for instance, I attended an interview of a campus tour guide position on Monday.    I thought every interviewee was talented and the chance to join the guiding group was small.  I also had a Chinese report that was due on Tuesday.  We needed to work in a team and gave a presentation together, which was funny and tiring at the same time.  On Wednesday afternoon, I was asked to hand in a teaching project for a winter vacation camp I devoted to.  Moreover, I am going to participate in a Christmas party held by NTU and NCCU students this Thursday.  My friends and I went shopping for clothes last weekend because of the party.  This Friday, there was the most significant activity in our department, MIS NIGHT!  We spent so much time preparing for it every day and night these days.  As its approaching, I could feel that everyone was nervous, though we practiced again and again, as well as made efforts to decorate for a long time.  During this week, many of our teachers reminded us of the final exams and reports, too.
What an exhausting week!  But I'd love to be busy this way, meanwhile gaining happiness and friendship.^^

Visit someone in NCCU

All of our freshmen should complete two reflections and one visit report this semester for a graduation required credit  .  After considering for a while, I decided to visit a professor this Monday for the report.  He was a busy person who not only taught us civil law, but also was a student pursuing a JD in NCCU now.  Every week during his class, he told us lots of interesting or classic incidences related to law.  In addition, he loved to play dynamic videos to show us the news or how people in our society reacted to certain judgments.  I thought it was really motivating and useful to us.  That’s why I chose him to visit.

Quite surprisingly, he talked something emotional and private that day, including the experience of taking the college entrance exam twice, his sense of love… I was especially impressed by his life philosophy: learn to sleep enough and well.  He explained that it is because once you could sleep enough every day, you might have the ability to arrange your time efficiently.  If you could sleep well every night, you might have little to worry about and lived at ease.  At the end of the visit, he also encouraged us to go for what we want in college life.
My friends and I were so excited after it (perhaps because he talked about love?!), and we did appreciate this unforgettable visit!

A speech that helps me

Last Friday evening, I went to a two-hour lecture that introduced overseas short-term studying tour to us.  It was so fascinating that I really enjoyed it.  Besides, I started considering something significant during that time.  Though studying in a foreign country has been definitely a dream to me, I always worried about the huge cost and the unknown variables.  As a result, to tell the truth, I didn’t have any actual plan to achieve the goal.  However, after the appealing speech, I made up my mind to accomplish it eventually!  I had no idea before that NCCU in fact offered so many opportunities to go abroad.  For instance, the tour to Hertford College in Oxford University especially attracted me!  There would be money problems as well as challenges of going to unfamiliar places, which I could imagine.  To overcome it, I have to save my money monthly, and perhaps get related information and experiences as much as possible.  Realizing this dream is still a long way to go, but I believe that as long as I keep it in my mind, fighting for it, all the difficulties would be conquer!

Crazy night

This Tuesday, I went to Rau-He(饒河)Night Market with my team in Chinese class for our up-coming presentation.  Every member in our group came from different counties, including Kaohsiung, Hualien, Tao-Yuan and so on.  So we decided to write on this food topic in order to try novel foods in Taipei and of course, have fun doing our homework.  However, we didn’t expect to enjoy it on a heavy rainy day!  Owing to the sudden rain, I believe lots of venders were absent that night.  Also, it was really strange to see very few people walking in a famous night market.

Do you think we were upset or disappointed?  Absolutely not!  One of our teammates even claimed that we were lucky to some degree, because we needed not stand in a queue and wait for what we wanted to eat.  With this thought in mind, we savored Fried Chicken Roll(雞腿捲) Crispy Fried Pork Noodles(排骨酥麵), Saved Ice with sugar(黑砂糖剉冰), Matcha Glutinous Cake(抹茶粉粿), Roasted Corn(碳烤玉米), Indian Milk Tea(印度拉茶)…Wow!

Not only the tasty food but also the feeling of share made me really joyful.  Thanks to all of my teammates~for a little crazy and wonderful night!

Wear a MASK?!

This time I’m going to talk about my Chinese class, which often impresses me a lot.  Our course is all about fables, and this week we discussed “mask” issue.  In the beginning there was a story that describes a king who wanted to become happy and contented.  So he listened to a wiser, wearing a real mask(always with a smile face) to face his people all the time.  Strangely, he not only gradually changed himself but also turned out to be a kind leader after taking off the mask!  Then, we started to discuss the reason why as well as how he could make it.  Speaking of wearing a mask while being with others, it might sound to be really negative.  Nevertheless, we soon found that everyone had their own unique answer to the question: “What kind of mask do you want to wear now?”  For example, a shy girl wants to wear a brave and courageous mask, while a serious boy longs to wear a friendly mask. As for my answer, if possible, I would like to wear a strong and independent mask, completing things with skilled techniques and confidence.  Sincerely hope everyone’s wishes can end up coming true just like the king's!!

Just try

During my high school life, I have had a vision of making a difference in the university. However, on preparing to enter NCCU, when it came to arrange things in life on my own, I started to feel so anxious and frightened. For instance, I often lost my way in any places before. In this case, I couldn’t help worrying that I would be incapable of finding the right direction to each unfamiliar place. Facing lots of choices, unexpectedly, I was also afraid of making decisions. As there were so many activities to attend or clubs to join, I had no idea which to participate in and devote myself.
Fortunately, the anxiety did not last for long. I felt so lucky that I quickly met friendly roommates, who always gave me a hand while I needed help. In addition, some kind and cute classmates never refuse to share their experience and knowledge with me. Meanwhile, I found some courses really motivating. It’s true all of these encourage me a lot. After all, just always try my best, right?
